Toilet Bound Hanako Kun Ep 3 Eng Sub

Toilet Bound Hanako Kun Ep 3 Eng Sub

Okay, let's talk about Toilet-bound Hanako-kun. Specifically, episode 3, subbed of course. We all watched it, right? Right?! Don’t even pretend you skipped it!

I have to admit, I have a slightly… unpopular opinion about this particular episode. Prepare yourselves. I wasn’t completely blown away. I know, I know! Gasp! Clutch your pearls! But hear me out.

First off, let’s be real, the animation is gorgeous. The colors! The sparkles! AidaIro's art style is just chef's kiss. And Hanako? Well, he’s always a delight. Mischievous, mysterious, and just the right amount of creepy. I mean, who wouldn't want a ghost hanging around in their school bathroom?

Episode 3 introduces us (properly) to Mitsuba Sousuke. This guy is... something else. He’s got the whole cute-but-with-a-secret thing going on. And his introduction? Classic anime dramatic flair. I did appreciate the foreshadowing they sprinkled in there.

The Angst Factor

Now, this is where my unpopular opinion starts to bud. The angst. Oh, the angst! Look, I appreciate a good dose of teenage drama as much as the next person. But sometimes, it felt like they were turning the dial up to eleven. Yashiro's emotional turmoil? Understandable, considering, you know, she's kind of dying. But still, a little much, maybe?

Don't get me wrong, I felt bad for her. Being stuck between the human world and the spirit world? That’s gotta be rough. And Hanako is being very secretive about a lot of things and this doesn't make the matter easier, does it?

And then there's Mitsuba. Poor kid. I won't spoil everything, but let's just say his backstory is a real tearjerker. Is there a need for so much suffering in one episode?

Humor: A Saving Grace

Thankfully, Toilet-bound Hanako-kun never forgets its comedic roots. Even amidst all the angst, there were moments that made me chuckle. Hanako's teasing is always spot-on, and the little chibi moments are just adorable. These are much needed breathers amidst the heavier elements.

Also, the whole “camera” subplot? Kind of hilarious. It felt like a weird fever dream, but in a good way. Did it make perfect sense? Not really. Did I enjoy it anyway? Absolutely!

Seriously, though, who needs actual photos when you can have a ghost manipulating reality to create the perfect snapshot? Just another Tuesday at Kamome Academy, I guess.

Subtitles: The Real MVP

Let's give a shout-out to the unsung heroes: the subtitle writers! They’re the real MVPs. Without them, I'd be completely lost. Trying to decipher anime Japanese without subtitles is a skill I haven’t quite mastered yet. So, thank you, subtitle gods! You allow me to fully appreciate Hanako's witty remarks and Mitsuba’s existential dread.

Final Thoughts (Unpopular Edition)

So, did I love episode 3? Yes, and no. The animation was stunning, the characters were engaging, and the humor was on point. But the angst? It felt a little… forced at times. Maybe it's just me. Maybe I'm a heartless monster. But I just wasn't completely swept away like everyone else seemed to be.

That being said, I'm still completely hooked on Toilet-bound Hanako-kun. The story is intriguing, the characters are complex, and the world is fascinating. I’m eagerly waiting to see what happens next. Even if it means facing more angst.

I'll be in the bathroom, waiting for the next episode to be subbed. Don't judge me.
