Okay, let's talk Pokemon Sword and Shield anime. You know, the one alongside the games. It's been a ride, hasn't it? Prepare yourself, though, because I might have a confession.

The show is technically called Pokemon Journeys. That's kind of a giveaway, right? Ash Ketchum, ever the ten-year-old, is traveling EVERYWHERE.

And I mean everywhere. From Kanto to Galar. The guy's got more frequent flyer miles than a Pidgeot!

Goh, The Unlikely Partner

Ash isn’t alone this time, though. He’s paired with a new character named Goh.

Goh's goal is to catch every Pokemon. Even Mew! Talk about ambitious, huh?

I know a lot of people found Goh annoying. Especially because he caught Pokemon left and right.

He didn't even battle sometimes! He'd just chuck a Pokeball. Still, I kind of liked his enthusiasm.

Imagine a real-life Pokemon Go player. That's basically Goh in a nutshell.

Sword and Shield Adventures

But how does Sword and Shield fit in? Well, Ash and Goh frequently visit the Galar region.

They explore the Wild Area. They battle Gym Leaders. You know, the usual Pokemon stuff.

And of course, they encounter some legendary Pokemon! Who wouldn't want to see Zacian and Zamazenta?

Leon: The Unbeatable Champion (or is he?)

Let's not forget Leon! He's the undefeated Champion of Galar.

He's got Charizard. He's got style. He's got…a questionable sense of direction, apparently?

Seriously, that guy gets lost a lot. I'm pretty sure I've seen him wander into walls.

Why I Actually Liked It

Okay, so why did I enjoy Pokemon Journeys so much? Even with its flaws?

First, it was just fun seeing all the different regions again. It was like a Pokemon nostalgia trip!

Plus, the animation was pretty solid. The battles looked cool, even if they were sometimes predictable.

And honestly, it was just nice to see Ash still chasing his dream. Even if he hasn't aged a day.

Let's be real, though. The show knew exactly what it was doing when it brought back past favorites.

"Gotta catch 'em all!" - Ash Ketchum (still, somehow)

The cameos from old companions? Pure fan service, and I ate it up!

The Finale: A Little Bit Predictable

Of course, the ending was…well, pretty much what everyone expected. Ash finally wins a major tournament!

It only took him twenty-something years. Congrats, Ash! You did it, buddy!

Many were upset, though. Years of watching Ash lose finally had its payoff. But it wasn't satisfying for many.

Still, seeing him battle Leon was epic. Charizard vs. Pikachu. A classic showdown!

An Unpopular Opinion? Maybe.

I know, I know. Pokemon Journeys wasn't perfect. The pacing was weird. Goh was divisive.

But honestly, it was just a fun, lighthearted Pokemon adventure. And sometimes, that's all I need.

So, yeah. I liked the Sword and Shield anime. Sue me! (Please don't.)

I am ready for the next Pokemon adventure! I'm already packing my bag and figuring out which Pokemon to use!

Maybe I'll catch a glimpse of Goh, somewhere, still throwing Pokeballs at everything.
