Tierra Del Sol Golf Course Aruba

Tierra Del Sol Golf Course Aruba

Okay, let's talk about Tierra Del Sol in Aruba. Everyone raves. Sunset views, challenging course, "the best golf in Aruba!" Blah, blah, blah. But I'm here to tell you something… I have some thoughts.

Look, I get it. Aruba is gorgeous. Turquoise water, white sand...postcard perfect. And Tierra Del Sol is… well, it's a golf course plopped right in the middle of paradise. But is it worth it?

The Desert Oasis (That's Kinda Just… Desert)

They call it a "desert oasis." Okay, marketing team, chill out. It's mostly cacti and strategically placed (and probably VERY expensive to maintain) patches of green. It’s Aruba. There’s sand everywhere. You're basically golfing in a giant, slightly less hot sandbox.

And yes, the views are lovely. If you can see them through the sweat dripping into your eyes. Seriously, bring a towel. A big one. And maybe a personal fan. You're going to need it. Especially around hole 14, I swear that little breeze disappears.

The "Challenge" (aka Losing All Your Balls)

Let's be honest, the "challenging" aspect isn’t always fun. It's more like… frustrating. "Oh, another cactus? Guess I'll just buy a new sleeve of balls." Seriously, the pros probably love it. They're professionals! The rest of us? We're just trying not to shank it into the ocean (which, thankfully, isn't usually a problem at Tierra Del Sol. Though a few of the back tees do feel close to some scary drops).

I’m sure the course designer, Robert Trent Jones II, is a lovely person. But after my third lost ball on the front nine, I started fantasizing about replacing all the cacti with oversized nets. Just a thought.

The Price Tag (That Makes You Want to Cry)

Okay, this is the real kicker. The price. Ouch. You could probably finance a small Caribbean island for the cost of a round at Tierra Del Sol. And sure, you're paying for the "experience." But is that experience really worth skipping a week of delicious Aruban food? I think not!

Look, I understand luxury. I appreciate a well-manicured fairway. But at that price point, I expect my caddie to personally fan me with a palm frond and feed me grapes. And maybe sing me a lullaby after I inevitably three-putt. Just sayin'.

The Clubhouse (Where You Can Drown Your Sorrows)

The clubhouse is nice. Very nice. Air conditioning, comfy chairs, a bar stocked with… well, everything. Perfect for complaining about your terrible score and justifying the expense with a few "well, at least I got to experience it!" cocktails.

And the staff are lovely. Seriously, the staff are amazing. They're the reason I didn't completely lose it after spending half my afternoon searching for lost golf balls in the desert. They deserve a raise.

The Verdict (Unpopular Opinion Alert!)

So, here it is: My unpopular opinion. Tierra Del Sol is… overrated. There. I said it. It's beautiful, challenging (in a frustrating way), and incredibly expensive. Is it a bad golf course? No. But is it the best golf course in Aruba? I'm not convinced.

Maybe I just prefer golfing with a side of realistic expectations and a slightly lighter wallet. Maybe I’m just bitter about all those lost golf balls. Who knows?

But hey, at least I got a good tan. And a story to tell. Even if that story involves a lot of cacti and a slightly traumatized bank account.
