Okay, let’s be real for a second. Instagram Stories, right? Everyone’s on them. Everyone’s posting. But are we really listening?

I’m going to say something that might be controversial. Maybe even scandalous. I usually watch Instagram Stories on mute.

Gasp! I know! Judgement is totally acceptable. But hear me out.

How many times have you been scrolling, minding your own business? Suddenly, BOOM! Loud music. Someone yelling. It's Story chaos.

My phone practically vibrates off the table. My poor, unsuspecting ears! It's audio assault. I get a mini heart attack.

My Unpopular Opinion

So, I've become a professional mute-button user. It's a skill I've honed over years. I can silence a Story faster than you can say "influencer marketing."

And honestly? I think I prefer it. Am I the only one who feels this way?

Reading the captions (if there are any) is much more peaceful. Plus, you can people-watch without the aural intrusion. It's a win-win.

Sometimes the music is just…bad. I don’t need to hear your questionable taste in elevator music. I’m judging you silently instead.

The Visual Storytelling Advantage

Let’s be honest, most Instagram Stories are visual anyway. A pretty sunset. A cute puppy. A plate of delicious-looking food.

These things speak for themselves! They don't need a soundtrack. Trust me. They really don’t.

I can usually understand the context just by looking. A picture is worth a thousand words, right? Even on Instagram.

Especially if it's a picture of your pet. I will always look at pictures of pets. No sound required.

Seriously, people, learn to use captions! It's a game-changer. It's a courtesy to your sound-sensitive followers.

Captions are the universal language of the muted Instagram Story. Embrace them! Use them! Love them!

Plus, they make your Stories accessible to everyone. People who are hard of hearing can enjoy your content too! It’s basic decency.
