Hillary Internet Lawton Ok

Okay, let's talk about something nobody really wants to talk about. Something that makes some people groan and others raise an eyebrow. Ready? It's about that feeling you get when you're driving through a small town and see a sign: "Welcome to Hillary, Oklahoma!"
Now, before you grab your pitchforks, I’m not saying anything bad about Hillary, OK. Or Internet Lawton, Oklahoma for that matter! It's probably lovely. I bet the people are friendly. I bet the sunsets are amazing. I'm sure the local diner serves the BEST chicken fried steak in the state.
But let's be honest. Did you know there was a Hillary, Oklahoma? Before now, I mean?
Must Read
And let's further be honest. When you do find out there's a Hillary, Oklahoma, isn't your first thought… "Wait, that Hillary?"
I know, I know. It’s named after someone else entirely. Probably some pioneer woman named Hillary who was a pillar of the community and single-handedly kept the town afloat during the Great Dust Bowl. Or a beloved pet. We’ll go with pioneer woman.
But still. The association. It's unavoidable. It's like naming your dog "Spot" and then being surprised when people think of a dalmatian. The mental connection is there.

And Internet Lawton, Oklahoma? Okay, I am making this up. But why not? We have Internet in almost every town now and naming your town after popular person. Who knows what is next!
Here's my (probably unpopular) opinion: the town should lean into it! Embrace the Hillary-ness! Imagine the possibilities!
Tourist Attractions in Hillary, OK: A Dream
Think about it. They could have a "Pantsuit Power Hour" at the local bar. Special blue-themed cocktails. Maybe even a life-sized cardboard cutout for selfies. (Okay, maybe two cardboard cutouts. One smiling, one giving "the look.")

They could host a "What Happened?" trivia night. (Disclaimer: all questions must be historically accurate and respectful. No conspiracy theories allowed! Just lighthearted fun.)
And the merchandise! Oh, the merchandise! "Hillary, Oklahoma: We're Still Here!" t-shirts. "Hillary, Oklahoma: Stronger Together" bumper stickers. Miniature pantsuit pins. The possibilities are endless!
Seriously, imagine the revenue! Think of the tourism! People would flock from all over the world to see the town that dared to embrace the… shall we say… unique name.
I know, I know. It's probably all a terrible idea. The locals probably just want to live their lives in peace and quiet, without being bombarded by tourists asking about Benghazi. I get it.

But still... imagine! It would be legendary.
And if not Hillary, Oklahoma, then someone should do it! Some small town, somewhere, should just go all-in on a ridiculous name and become a tourist trap sensation. I'm looking at you, Internet Lawton, Oklahoma – future town with free WIFI.
Maybe I’m just dreaming. Maybe I’ve had too much coffee. But the thought of a town wholeheartedly embracing its quirky name makes me smile. And in this day and age, a little smile goes a long way.

So, next time you're driving through Oklahoma, keep an eye out for that sign. And if you see it, maybe take a picture. Maybe even buy a t-shirt. And remember, sometimes the most unexpected places can offer the most unexpected laughs.
Or at least, a really good chicken fried steak.
And that my friends, is my slightly insane, totally impractical, but hopefully amusing take on the town of Hillary, Oklahoma (and the imaginary, but potentially glorious, Internet Lawton, Oklahoma.)
