Applehead Vs Deer Head Chihuahua

Let's talk Chihuahuas. Tiny, sassy, and utterly captivating. But did you know there's a bit of a "head" divide in the Chihuahua world? We're talking Applehead versus Deer Head. And let's just say, I have opinions.

Now, before everyone grabs their pitchforks, I love all Chihuahuas. Really, I do. They’re tiny little emperors ruling over our couches. But if I had to choose... well, let's just say my allegiance leans towards the Deer Heads.

The Applehead Appeal (Or Lack Thereof, In My Humble Opinion)

The Applehead Chihuahua. It's all in the name, right? They've got that rounded, apple-shaped head, almost like they're wearing a tiny helmet. Officially, it's the breed standard. The AKC loves them! But to me? It sometimes feels a little… exaggerated. Like a cartoon character come to life. A cute cartoon, sure, but still… cartoonish.

I can already hear the Applehead lovers typing furiously. "They're adorable! Their heads are so round!" And yes, they are cute. Like, objectively, puppy-level cute. But there's something about the overall look that just doesn’t quite click with me. Maybe it's the molera, that soft spot on their head that can sometimes stick around. Maybe it's the perpetually surprised expression they seem to wear.

In Defense of the Deer Head

Ah, the Deer Head. Now we're talking! These little guys (and gals) have a more elongated snout, a head shape that's, well, more deer-like. They’re often larger than their Applehead cousins, too. Some might even call them... wait for it... leggy! Gasp!

For me, the Deer Head Chihuahua has a certain… elegance. A refined air. Okay, maybe that's pushing it. But they just look more… balanced. Less like they're about to topple over from the sheer weight of their apple-shaped cranium. (Okay, I'm kidding! Sort of.)

There's also something about their facial expressions. They seem more… knowing. More intelligent. Like they're silently judging your life choices while you're showering them with affection. Which, let’s be honest, they probably are.

And let’s not forget the health implications. While not always the case, some believe Deer Heads are generally healthier, potentially avoiding some of the breathing and dental issues sometimes associated with the Applehead's more compressed facial structure.

It's All Subjective, Of Course... (But I'm Still Right)

Look, at the end of the day, it all comes down to personal preference. Some people are drawn to the Applehead's exaggerated features. They find them irresistibly charming. And that's perfectly fine! There's room for all kinds of Chihuahua love in this world.

But for me? The Deer Head wins every time. Their slightly longer snout, their more balanced proportions, their air of quiet confidence... it all adds up to a Chihuahua that I find undeniably appealing.
