Alana From The Little Mermaid

Alana From The Little Mermaid

Okay, let's talk about Alana. You know, one of Ariel's sisters? The one... with the purple seashell bra? Yeah, that's her.

Alana: The Forgotten Mermaid

Let's be honest. When you think of The Little Mermaid, you probably think of Ariel's red hair. Maybe Sebastian's Jamaican accent. Possibly even Ursula's villainous laugh. But Alana? She's usually way down on the list, isn't she?

It's not that she's awful. It's just... is she even doing anything? The movie gives us like, five seconds to remember she exists. "Hello! I'm a mermaid. I sing in a chorus. Bye!"

And maybe, just maybe, that's okay. Hear me out!

Is Alana Secretly... the Smartest?

Think about it. Ariel's chasing after a land-dweller she saw once. Attina's all about rules, apparently. Arista's busy being, well, Arista (anyone remember what she even does?). Aquata's probably practicing synchronized swimming. Adella's... is she the one who giggles a lot? And then there's Alana. Quiet. Reserved. Observant.

Could Alana be the sensible one? The one thinking, "Yeah, Dad, the human world seems interesting, but I'm gonna chill down here and maintain a stable life?"

I'm just saying, maybe Alana's playing the long game. While Ariel's making deals with sea witches and nearly getting everyone eaten, Alana's building a solid foundation under the sea. She might be investing in coral futures or something. Who knows?

Unpopular Opinion Alert!

Here it comes. My potentially controversial statement. Brace yourselves.

I think Alana is secretly the most well-adjusted of all of King Triton's daughters.

I know, I know. Sacrilege! But consider the evidence (or lack thereof, which is kind of the point). We don't see her getting into any trouble. We don't hear about her making rash decisions. She's just… there. Existing. Peacefully.

Maybe she's just happy with her lot in life. Maybe she enjoys singing in the chorus. Maybe she finds fulfillment in perfecting her seashell bra collection (it is a very nice shade of purple).

Alana: A Relatable Mermaid

Let's be real. Not all of us are destined for grand adventures. Some of us are perfectly content with a quiet life, surrounded by familiar faces and predictable routines. And that's okay!

Maybe, just maybe, Alana represents the average person. The one who isn't chasing fame or fortune, but who is just trying to make the best of things. The one who understands that sometimes, the greatest adventures are the ones you don't take.

So, the next time you watch The Little Mermaid, take a closer look at Alana. Don't dismiss her as just another background character. See her as a symbol of quiet contentment. A mermaid who knows what she wants, and who isn't afraid to be… well, normal.

Plus, that purple seashell bra? Totally on trend.

Maybe it's time we all embraced our inner Alana. Less drama, more seashell bras. Sounds good to me.

And hey, at least she didn't trade her voice for legs. Right?
