Who Died In Akame Ga Kill

Okay, okay, gather 'round, folks! Let's talk about Akame ga Kill!, that anime where the body count rivals a zombie apocalypse at a clown convention. Seriously, I'm pretty sure the animators had a "Who can kill off the most characters in the most creatively depressing way?" competition. And boy, did they deliver!
So, who bit the dust? Buckle up, buttercups, because this is a long one. We're diving headfirst into the massive grave of Night Raid and their enemies. I'm going to try and keep this relatively spoiler-free-ish, but honestly, if you're reading this and haven't watched it, you've probably already had every major plot point spoiled by a rogue TikTok algorithm.
Night Raid: More Like Night "Raid-ed" of Members
First up, let's talk about our protagonists, the lovable band of assassins. They start out relatively okay... relatively. But the phrase "relatively okay" in Akame ga Kill! is like saying a house fire is "relatively warm." Things are about to get toasty.
Must Read
Sheele: Oh, Sheele. Sweet, clumsy Sheele. Armed with Extase, the scissor Teigu (that's fancy weapon-speak), she was the team's resident gentle giant. Sadly, she goes down early protecting Mine. Honestly, her death was a shock because she seemed like she'd stick around. Nope! Killed by Seryu Ubiquitous. Talk about a name that needs to be shortened.
Bulat: Next, we have Bulat, the buff, oiled-up, surprisingly charming muscle of the group. Wielding Incursio, a suit of armor that could probably bench-press a small car, he was a force to be reckoned with. He valiantly fought Liver, another guy from Esdeath's group. Died saving Tatsumi. Tragic, I know. Who doesn’t love a himbo?
Mine: Ah, Mine. The sassy, pink-haired sharpshooter with Pumpkin, a Teigu that got stronger the more danger she was in. She actually survives the main conflict. Almost died a couple of times. In the manga, she’s in a coma. In the anime, she just, doesn’t.

Lubbock: Lubbock, the ever-flirty information gatherer with his wire Teigu, Cross Tail. He was the designated pervert of the group, but he had a good heart (mostly). He was killed by, in my opinion, some pretty unfair circumstances during an encounter with Shura. Seriously, talk about a cheap shot!
Chelsea: Oh, Chelsea. Remember her? Probably not. She was that one character who joined the group relatively late, had a cool Teigu that let her transform, and then promptly got killed off in a spectacularly gruesome fashion by Kurome. It was like the writers were saying, "Surprise! We can still shock you!" Thanks, guys. Appreciate it.
Susanoo: Susanoo, or Su as he was affectionately called. He was Najenda's Teigu, a humanoid bio-weapon. Strong, loyal, and incredibly meticulous, he served as the team's housekeeper and bodyguard. He sacrificed himself to allow the other members of Night Raid to escape.

Tatsumi: Our main man, Tatsumi! He’s the one who gets to have the classic, "I'm gonna get stronger and protect everyone!" arc. And... well, he kinda succeeds. He gets Incursio (after Bulat), gets stronger, but ultimately sacrifices himself in the final battle to defeat the Emperor’s Teigu. I get it, dramatic irony, but still. Ouch.
The Jaegers: Death by Ice Queen
Now, let’s move on to the Jaegers, Esdeath's special forces team. They were basically the evil Night Raid, but with more questionable morals (if that's even possible) and a leader who was obsessed with the main character. And guess what? They also died a lot!
Seryu Ubiquitous: Yep, the same Seryu who offed Sheele. She, along with her Teigu, Koro, was completely obsessed with justice. Killed by Mine. Good riddance.

Dr. Stylish: Okay, this guy was just weird. Like, Mad Scientist weird. He experimented on people, turned them into monsters, and generally creeped everyone out. He was killed during an attack on Night Raid's hideout. No tears shed here, folks. Nobody liked you, Doc.
Kurome: Akame’s little sister. It’s all very dramatic, because they were both raised to be assassins. Kurome uses her Teigu to control the corpses of her fallen enemies. But in the end, she’s… defeated by Akame. Depending on the ending, the fate differs. Manga, Kurome and Akame are together. Anime, Akame kills Kurome.
Wave: Wave kind of gets a pass. He gets to live and be together with Kurome. He and Kurome betray Esdeath to live in peace.

Run: One of the kinder characters, Run was an instructor, who just wanted to educate people. He was killed in the battle against the Revolutionary Army.
Esdeath: The big bad herself. The ice queen with a penchant for torture and a weird crush on Tatsumi. In the end, Esdeath dies. Defeated by Akame, she uses her ice powers to encase herself in ice and shatters. Even villains deserve to be mourned, but… she was pretty bad.
So... Who Didn't Die?
Honestly, at this point, it's easier to list who actually made it out alive. Najenda, Akame, Wave. Good job guys! Congrats on surviving the body count.
So, there you have it! A whirlwind tour of the graveyard that is Akame ga Kill!. Remember, kids, anime can be fun, but sometimes it's just designed to emotionally traumatize you. But hey, at least it makes for a good story, right?
