• "Opportunity zones" that require a significant investment and a very optimistic outlook. Think "developing potential." Think "years of waiting."

Don't get me wrong, opportunities exist. But you'll need the patience of a saint, the negotiating skills of a used car salesman, and the financial backing of…well, someone rich. Really rich.

The Unpopular Opinion Strikes Again!

Here's another one: Maybe we don't need more stuff in Orange County. Maybe we're perfectly fine with what we have. Maybe instead of squeezing in another McMansion, we should focus on improving the parks we already have, fixing the roads that desperately need it, and, you know, maybe even planting a few more orange trees (just for nostalgia's sake).

I know, I know. Sacrilege! Blasphemy! How dare I suggest we not build more? But hear me out. Sometimes, the best option isn't expansion. Sometimes, it's appreciation. Appreciate the beaches. Appreciate the (occasional) sunshine. Appreciate the fact that you can still get a decent taco at 2 AM. (That's an Orange County treasure, people.)
