Okay, yes, many of Luffy's opponents are truly terrible. Crocodiles. Doflamingos. These are not good guys. But is justified manslaughter still manslaughter?

It's a moral gray area. We’re rooting for Luffy! We want him to win. We also don't want him to be a stone-cold killer.

It's easier to believe that everyone survives his attacks. It keeps him the pure-hearted hero we know and love.
