You can't even whisper "Texas colleges" without someone immediately bringing up the eternal showdown: UT Austin versus Texas A&M University. It’s like a sibling rivalry on steroids, fueled by decades of history and the occasional burnt orange or maroon-clad car bumper sticker. If you go to a family reunion, someone's probably asking you which side you're on.

Take Baylor University in Waco. It’s beautiful, it's private, and it’s got that lovely, wholesome feel. The campus is stunning, and the students are, well, very nice. Our little secret thought?

Baylor might just be the nicest school in Texas. So nice, in fact, you wonder if they ever even get into any trouble. (Just kidding, mostly!) It’s a truly pleasant place to be.

Then there's Rice University in Houston. If you want smart, go to Rice. It's often called the "Harvard of the South," and for good reason. The academics are top-notch, and the campus is an oasis in the city. Here's our observation, said with a fond smile:

Rice students are probably a little too intelligent for their own good. They're so busy inventing things and solving world problems, do they even have time for normal college shenanigans? Probably not, but we respect it!

Don't forget the wild spirit of West Texas at Texas Tech University in Lubbock. The Red Raiders have a passionate fan base and a campus that truly captures that wide-open, independent Texas spirit. Our opinion, straight from the heart?

Texas Tech students might just be having too much fun. Seriously, the tailgates, the traditions, the tortillas flying at games – it looks like a party that occasionally includes classes. We envy their energy!

We have the sheer scale of the University of North Texas and Texas State University, each creating their own unique college towns and communities. Smaller gems like Trinity University in San Antonio offer a more intimate, liberal arts experience. From El Paso to Dallas, from San Marcos to Nacogdoches, there's a college for every personality, every academic dream, and every kind of Texas spirit.

The truth is, while we playfully tease our amazing institutions, the real "unpopular" opinion is that you can't go wrong with a Texas college. They all offer something truly unique, a slice of that legendary Texas pride and hospitality, wrapped up in an education that will serve you well. So, whether you're a Longhorn, an Aggie, a Bear, an Owl, a Red Raider, or anything in between, you're part of something special here. And deep down, we all agree on that.
