We Them Ones Comedy Tour Chicago 2024

Okay, Chicago, let's talk. The We Them Ones Comedy Tour rolled through town in 2024. And let me just say, it was... an experience.
I went. I laughed. I choked on a rogue pretzel crumb. But, here's the thing.
The Hype Was Real... Mostly
The lineup was stacked! Mike Epps. DC Young Fly. Sommore. Heavy hitters, right?
Must Read
Everyone was buzzing. Social media was exploding with anticipation. You couldn't escape the "We Them Ones" memes.
My unpopular opinion? Sometimes, too much hype can be a curse. Like when you order that viral TikTok recipe, and it tastes like burnt sadness.
The Good Stuff: Laughter Served Fresh
There were definitely moments of pure comedic gold. Mike Epps, as always, brought the chaotic energy. He just owns the stage.
And DC Young Fly? That man can improv like nobody's business. Seriously, quick wit is an understatement.
I almost snorted my drink out when he started riffing on someone's outfit in the front row. (Sorry, front row person!)

Sommore was amazing. She is the queen of telling it like it is. No holding back, just pure, unadulterated truth bombs.
The Not-So-Good Stuff: The Comedy Curveball
But here's where I get controversial. Some of the sets felt... uneven.
A few jokes landed with a thud. You know, the kind where you can hear a pin drop, followed by awkward coughs.
It wasn't bad, per se. More like a comedy curveball that missed the strike zone entirely. It happens.
The Venue Vibes: A Love-Hate Relationship
Let's talk about the venue. Big arenas are great for energy. But sometimes, they feel impersonal.

It's hard to connect with the comedian when you're sitting a mile away. I felt like I needed binoculars and a translator.
Maybe that's just me being a grumpy millennial. I miss the intimacy of smaller comedy clubs, where you can practically feel the comedian's sweat.
Anyone else with me on this one? I know, I know, huge tour equals huge venue. But still...
The Crowd: A Mixed Bag of Laughs
The crowd was definitely... lively. Lots of cheering, shouting, and general enthusiasm.
Some people were a little too enthusiastic, if you catch my drift. A few shouted requests that missed horribly.

I'm all for audience participation. But there's a fine line between contributing and disrupting. Let the comedians do their thing, people!
It felt like I was at a sporting event. A very funny sporting event, but still.
Final Thoughts: Worth It?
So, was the We Them Ones Comedy Tour in Chicago worth the hype and the ticket price? Ultimately, yes. Mostly.
Even with the uneven moments, there was enough laughter to make it a fun night out. Mike Epps alone is worth the price of admission.
Just maybe lower your expectations a tad. Go in ready to laugh, but also prepared for a few jokes that might not quite hit the mark.

And for the love of all that is holy, maybe avoid wearing anything too flashy. You don't want to become DC Young Fly's next improv target. Trust me!
It was an okay experience, definitely worth the money but not an experience of a lifetime. I might go again but with lower expectations.
Will you be seeing them in other cities? If you do, let me know how it was.
Until next time, folks, keep laughing. Even when the jokes are a little corny.
