Anna May Wong Quarter For Sale

Anna May Wong Quarter For Sale

Okay, friends, let's talk money. Specifically, Anna May Wong quarters. Yes, the ones with the amazing flapper vibes. They're popping up everywhere, aren't they? And… some people are trying to sell them for a FORTUNE.

Seriously. I saw one listed online the other day for, like, a hundred bucks. For a quarter. I almost choked on my coffee. Is it just me, or is that…a tad excessive?

Look, I get it. Anna May Wong was a legend. Breaking barriers, blazing trails, rocking the silent film era. Deserves all the recognition. And it’s fantastic she’s on a quarter!

But let's be real. The mint is churning these babies out! They’re not exactly rarer than, say, finding a parking spot downtown on a Saturday night. Maybe a little rarer, but not by much.

My Unpopular Opinion (Brace Yourselves!)

Here it comes: Paying a crazy premium for a Anna May Wong quarter is… kind of silly. There. I said it.

Now, before you coin collectors come at me with your magnifying glasses and price guides, hear me out. I appreciate the hobby. I really do. My grandpa collected stamps. He had a whole binder full of tiny, gluey squares. He was passionate! I respect passion!

But a quarter is a quarter. It buys you a gumball. A parking meter. Maybe a small bag of chips (depending on inflation, of course). It does NOT buy you a small yacht. And certainly not the respect of fellow numismatists, if you overpay for a common, newly minted coin.

I'm not saying you shouldn't keep one. Absolutely snag one from your change if you see it! Treasure it! Maybe even start your own collection. By all means, remember Anna May Wong’s contributions to cinema.

But PLEASE, for the love of spare change, don't fall for the hype.

The Great Quarter Quest

I’ve been actively looking for them in my change. It's become a little game. Like a mini treasure hunt every time I use cash (which, admittedly, isn't very often these days).

So far, I’ve found…two. Both are currently residing in a jar on my dresser. Guarded by a porcelain cat. They're not for sale. (Unless, of course, someone offers me, like, a really ridiculous amount of money. Then…maybe. Just kidding!… Mostly.)

The point is, finding one in the wild is way more satisfying than buying one online for an exorbitant price. It’s like finding a twenty-dollar bill in your old coat pocket. Pure joy!

And let’s be honest, the joy of finding it is mostly because you found free money that you thought you already lost. Finding it in change gives the same type of thrill, only slightly smaller!

Let's Get Real About Resale

Let’s be real, everyone selling them online is probably selling them for more than they are actually worth. If you are purchasing one of these online, you're going to get taken for a ride. Everyone online is just looking to make a quick buck.

So, enjoy the Anna May Wong quarter! Appreciate the history! But maybe, just maybe, hold onto your hard-earned cash. Unless you really, really need that extra dose of quarter-related joy. In that case, go for it. But don't say I didn't warn you!

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I'm going to go check my change jar. Maybe my porcelain cat has brought me some more good luck. Wish me luck!
