Sesame Street The Best Of Ernie And Bert Vhs

Remember those bulky black bricks we called VHS tapes? Ah, nostalgia!

Specifically, remember Sesame Street on VHS?

The Ernie and Bert Show... On Repeat

Let's be honest, some tapes were *gold*. Others? Well...

Today, we're wading into slightly controversial territory. I'm talking about The Best Of Ernie And Bert VHS.

Unpopular Opinion Time!

Here it comes. Brace yourselves.

Is it just me, or was The Best Of Ernie And Bert a *little*... repetitive?

Don't get me wrong! I adore Ernie and Bert. They're comedy gold.

But how many times can one reasonably watch the Rubber Ducky song?

Seriously. Think about it.

We're talking about a finite number of skits, stretched over a *long* playtime.

My poor VCR probably aged ten years from the constant rewinding.

The Rubber Ducky Obsession

I get it. Rubber Ducky is iconic. Ernie's love for his bath toy is adorable.

But did the entire tape *need* to revolve around it?

It felt like half the content was Ernie singing about his yellow friend in various remixes.

The other half? Bert trying (and failing) to read in peace.

Bless Bert's perpetually annoyed heart.

The Pigeon Problem

Let's not forget Bert's obsession with pigeons. A close second to Rubber Ducky madness.

Were there *any* other skits that didn't involve pigeons or a bath toy?

Maybe one or two. Vaguely. I think there was a cookie involved once.

Oh, and the paperclip collection! But even that somehow circled back to Ernie messing with it.

The Power of Nostalgia (And Forgiveness)

Okay, okay. I'm being harsh.

I know. Nostalgia goggles are powerful. These tapes were a *huge* part of my childhood.

And even if it was repetitive, it was comfortably repetitive.

There was a certain charm to knowing exactly what was coming next.

A predictable, fuzzy warmth that only Ernie and Bert could provide.

The Value of Simplicity

Maybe the beauty of The Best Of Ernie And Bert was its simplicity.

No complex plots. No dramatic twists. Just two friends navigating everyday life (with a lot of rubber duckies).

Perhaps in a world of endless streaming options, that kind of simplicity is... refreshing?

Maybe I'm just getting old.

So, Was It *Really* The Best?

Probably not. Objectively speaking.

But did I watch it a million times? Absolutely.

Would I subject my own kids to the endless loop of Rubber Ducky? Possibly!

There's a certain magic to those old Sesame Street VHS tapes. Even the slightly redundant ones.

They're a time capsule. A portal to a simpler time.

A time when a rubber ducky and a pigeon collection were all the entertainment we needed.

And maybe, just maybe, that's what made The Best Of Ernie And Bert so special after all.

Even if Bert never got to read his book in peace.

"Ernie! Not the paperclips!"
- Bert (probably, every five minutes)
